In Kano and Jigawa States, normal activities after the Presidential, Senatorial and National Assembly elections held on February 25, 2023, have resumed.
Our correspondent gathered that although there was some minor crisis at Kano State during the polls in some places, despite the efforts being made by the security agencies to ensure that the polls were hitch free.
Similarly, there were issues with the accreditation machine known as BVAS, while the election officers were seen early, as recommended, which facilitated early commencement of the election.
Furthermore, there were adequate election monitors and observers from different government and non-governmental organisations, who remained vigilant about what was happening across the poling units.
During the Presidential elections, the issue of vote buying was minimal due to the current monetary policy introduced by the Muhammadu Buhari administration though the politicians inprovised many ways of buying votes from the electorate.
From all indications, the election in Nigeria tends to be healthy and the issue of votes buying may be minimal in the future, while Nigeria’s democracy would continue to get sanity as seen at present.
