Plateau State Government has resolved to overhaul key economic sector of the state particularly agriculture, education and health for wealth creation and economic stability.
The resolution was contained in a communiqué issued after a 4-day retreat of members of the state executive council held at the Unity Hall of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos
According to the communique, “After extensive interactions and deliberations, the executive members resolved that key economic sector of the state like agriculture, education and health are very key to the development of the state.
“That these key sectors have suffered neglect in the past and the current administration has the responsibility to arrest the decay through total overhaul of these sectors.
“That in view of dwindling economic resources from oil revenue, government agencies must look inward to expand internal sources of revenue.
“That government will continue to work and improve its collaboration with development partners and multilateral agencies for the common good of citizens.
It also identified the role of civil service in the delivery of the 5-Point Policy Thrust of the administration and the need to embark on reform of the civil service sector.
Government also resolved to intensify its policies on peace and security realizing that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of rancor.
The state government said it will re-invigorate the machinery of government which was bastardized by the immediate past administration in the state to make it more responsive in line with the policies of the present regime.
However, electorates in the state are now waiting to see how the cabinet members will translate what they learn from the retreat in the act of governance.
