Plateau state government said that as at 31st September, 2016, the debt profile of the state stood at N 108, 036, 671, 275.68 even as it has set up plans to offset salaries and pension arrears by the end of 2016.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication Muhammad Nazif during a press briefing disclosed that the state has paid arrears of promotion and increments to civil servants and arrears of pensioners for April 2016 from the meagre resources in its coffers has only accessed N 6.370 billion out of the N14.07 billion approved as budget support facility which the state started drawing from in June.
The commissioner while noting that “N 1,326’301,922.52 was deducted as Irrevocable Standing Payment Order in respect of loans collected by the immediate past administration from the FAAC allocation N 1, 681, 009, 466.30 to the state for September” however said the state has generated tangible revenue from the ministry of Lands and Survey.
“On the whole, there is a remarkable increase in the tempo of activities in the Ministry of Lands and Survey, with a
resultant increase in revenue generated from June 2015 to September 2016 amounting to N176,066,967.86”.
Furthermore the governor at a Stakeholders meeting on Administration in Plateau’ also approved the
downward review of rates by 50% for land titles.
