Not less than 120 citizens of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State have benefited from the intervention of the Dayyabu Garga Foundation, a non profit, Non Governmental Organization (NGO), through training and equipping to become self reliant.
The 120 persons were trained on tyres improvement and design to offer beauty to the environment and each given a token of twenty thousand Naira as take off to aid in closing gaps where any exists.
Additional 20 persons were also picked from across the recognized zones of Kanam LGA and each person empowered with fifty thousand Naira to help set up or improve on their businesses all to help lift them above their present conditions.
The event was part of the one-year in office celebration of the Chairman and Founder of the foundation, Dr. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga, who also doubles as Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council.
Speaking to newsmen, a member of the Board Of Directors of the foundation, Miss Binta Damulak said this is one of the ways the foundation has decided to celebrate the numerous successes of its chairman, which was captured by a documentary shown as well as the magazine released by the LGC, which clearly shows all and where they are located.
She said the beneficiaries were trained fully, issued certificates and given starter packs by the foundation as such, they will monitor their progression as time moves on.
She said people dump used tyres as wastes these days, but the new norm is that these things can be recycled, redesigned and made to beautify the comfort of homes as well as the entire environment.
Describing it as a money spinner, the foundation said the beneficiaries will stand to benefit immensely if they remain disciplined and committed to the job.
Also speaking, Chairman and Founder, Dayyabu Garga said he remains grateful to God for the opportunity to serve the local government area for one year already, maintaining that the people have shown his administration tremendous support, which led to the achievements recorded.
He said as the days go by, more people oriented issues will continue to be addressed within the available resources of the LGA.
The chairman thanked the foundation for thinking along that direction and also identifying Kanam as a starting point for the intervention.
According to reports, the Dayyabu Garga Foundation has planned another phase of the celebration by distributing toiletries to patients in some selected hospitals across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The Dayyabu Garga Foundation, is a non profit organization that has been in existence for over 10 years and has carried out interventions across various spheres of human endeavours.
