Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) in Plateau State has expressed concerns over the impeachment saga in some local government councils,  saying that it is largely due to “the inability of the  ruling party to heed to advice.”

The state Chairman of IPAC,  Mr Abubakar Dogara who spoke on the development during an interview in Jos, said, said the idea to ask the 17 local government areas in the state to account for public funds was in line with the autonomy granted local government areas in the country.

According to him , ” we wanted to serve as checks and to prepare them from such  dramatic mess witnessed today.

“IPAC wanted to call them to run away from corruption and cases of embezzlement and outright financial stealing of public funds.”

He recalled that it was unfortunate that the ruling party in Plateau State could not allow any political party to feature  candidates in the last local government elections.

The politician described as a political mess,  the happening today  over the impeachment, adding that it was due to inability to heed to advices that were meant with a good intentions.

He therefore, called on the members of the Plateau State House of Assembly to check the increasing cases of financial corruption in the 17 local government areas in the state.

“Unless something  is done, the autonomy  granted to the local government areas in the state will not benefit the electorate,” he warned.

In a related development,  the legislative council of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State has lifted the suspension on the council chairman and insisted that the impeachment of the deputy chairman  stands.

The Council in the resolution on Monday, communicated on Tuesday,  said that the resolution was as a result of the intervention by the party in the state and some meaningful stakeholders who pleaded after the confession of the chairman.
