A Coalition of concerned Plateau All Progressives Congress (APC) youth in collaboration with aggrieved governorship aspirants on Friday, protested the imposition of Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as the flagbearer of the party ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Plateau.
The group in their hundreds, stormed the APC Secretariat, Kwalwa House Jos, saying that Governor Simon Lalong has brought shame and failure to Plateau in the last eight years and has imposed Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, an unacceptable aspirant to drive the party to total collapse and failure in 2023.
President of the group, Dapul Paul, who addressed journalists at the APC secretariat, said the protest was to tell the world that Plateau people have been denied the right to a credible candidate and they will not forgive the captain of the “Generation Next” for accepting to be imposed on Plateau people.
He explained that the group is in possession of video evidence of the recent show of shame and embarrassment caused to Plateau APC during the recent primary election and vowed to stop at nothing to ensure that justice is obtained.
“Democracy is not a stolen Mandate, you don’t build an empire base on family affiliation and on the premise of injustice. We totally reject the recent APC Gubernatorial primaries and we demand the National Secretariat and the Appeal committee to reverse in the interest of Justice for the party to win election.
“Anything short of this, the party and the Candidate, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda will lose the election because we will not accept the kind of broad day injustice and imposition.
“It is very important for us to register our displeasure and to assure the party that we will not support that kind of injustice.” He stated.
Another youth, Amos Agabol said they have come to tell the world that there was no gubernatorial primary election for the APC in Plateau State because the all other aspirants walk out on protest due to imposition by the clueless Governor, Simon Lalong.
He alleged that the governor made his brother a member of the electoral committee to ensure that Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda is returned as candidate of the party.
“We will not accept any candidate that is imposed by an under performing governor, Lalong has disappointed Plateau people and he should go and rest to allow the people elect a governor that will be widely accepted by the people of the state.”
