Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has assured of his total loyalty and support to the presidential candidature of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
“I’m firmly behind our presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and I would do everything humanly possible to ensure that he win the 2023 presidential elections”.
Governor Bala was speaking Monday while constituting a 22-man state reconciliation committee that could wade into all disputes, misunderstanding and other discrepancies arising from the just concluded party primaries in the state.
“It is in furtherance of our tradition as a party to make sure that we go intact as a family, because none of us is greater than the party, and none of us is bigger than all of us, all of us must come together irrespective of what happened during the primaries”.
The Governor said that losing an election is part of democracy, stressing, “I have lost, but taken it in good faith, I’m calling on others who lost like me as I lost in the presidential primaries to take it with humility, strong faith in God”.
The Governor who observed that there was a lot of horse-trading in the polity, permutations and even insults unleashed on each other, saying however that must have been forgotten with a view to forge ahead.
“So all those who contested in all the primaries from the senatorial to the state assembly must embrace that family approach, and embrace reconciliation”.
During the occasion which party leadership in the state congratulated him over his victory at the governorship primary election, the governor directed the committee to reach out to all those who contested the primary elections of the party, both the winners and the losers as, according to him, there is no victor no vanquish.
The chairman of the reconciliation committee, Senator Bala Adamu Kariya has on behalf of members expressed gratitude to the state government for the confidence it has in them to be appointed into such a committee.
He assured the governor that they would by the grace of God carry out the assigned responsibility diligently successfully, saying they would not betray the confidence repose in them.
