An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Thursday, dismissed the suit filed by the Deputy Governor of the state, Engr Rauf Olaniyan to stop the state House of Assembly from impeaching him from office.

However, the deputy governor has appealed the dismissal of his suit by the Oyo State High Court.

Justice Ladiran Akintola in his judgement, said the House of Assembly has not breached the provisions of the constitution of Nigeria on the removal of governor or deputy governor.

Justice Akintola ruled that the lawmakers substantially complied with the provisions of Section 188 of the Constitution on the removal process.

However, the  Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan has headed for the Court of Appeal to challenge the decision of the lower court which  dismissed his suit against the plan of the Oyo State House of Assembly to begin an impeachment process against him.

This was made known to newsmen by his Counsel Chief Afolabi Fashanu shortly after the High Court judgement .
