The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied media reports that its members in the state have resorted to working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the general elections in the state.
The report is coming few weeks after Governor Bello’s lieutenants flooded media houses that Atiku’s campaign train to the state was infested with hired thugs as smoke screen.
This, not withstanding however, the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has refuted the campaign of calumny against the party describing the concocted publication as the figment of imagination by the sponsors.
The party in a statement signed by the Director General Adamu Mahmoud Atta Support Group, Chief Sam Abenemi and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, condemned those mischievous elements in the garb of APC to desist from their unscrupulous political ambitions.
Abenemi noted that nobody has omnipotent powers to make PDP not to win the general elections even as the party may not be desperate to win.
He affirmed that the members of the PDP would not involve in any forms of anti party activity at this critical moment of the party history, disclosed that both members and supporters have collapsed their interest into the over all interest of the party.
According to him, the enemies have gone ahead with their concocted story to link the hardworking member of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mahmoud Atta to Gov’ Yahaya Bello in the said publication.
He explained that the story purportedly averred that Gov Bello has been in talks with the leadership of PDP to ensure that Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan loses her case in the court to enable Adamu Mahmoud Atta to replace her.
He added that the story in its mischievous content did not know that the said law suit has been withdrawn at the instance of the party.
” The hatchet job must be condemned in its entirety and view it as the handiwork of those who do not wish PDP in Kogi State well, but only interested in their parochial, ambitious and penchant to grab power at all costs.
”Through Adamu Mahmoud Atta’s Support Group AMASG, Alhaji Adamu Mahmoud Atta is fully focused and committed to ensuring victory of all PDP candidates including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of our party.
”Alhaji Adamu has made numerous donations to the Atiku/ Okowa presidential campaign council . He recently gave 14 Sharon buses and has extended his tentacles of support to the three Senatorial districts, the statement said.
“The enemies who know the capacity and capabilities of the group to achieve the task and with their commitment to this ideal has made them a threat to the powers that be who are using every machination to derail the commitment.
“This is a calculated attempt by mischievous people to tarnish the good intentions of Alhaji Adamu Mahmoud Atta and to undermine his focus on victory for Atiku/ Okowa candidacy and victory for all PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections.” he stressed.
