Only Journalists Can Right  Wrongs In Nigeria, Says Adeyeri

A business mogul, Adeyeri Stephen Kunle, has projected into the future of country and concluded that only  journalists could amend a number of anomalies present in the system. 

Adeyeri who acknowledged the fact that journalists are tirelessly working to offer pieces of accurate and unbiased information to public, urged them to sustain the pace, saying reports from the media will in no distant time, counteract the ugly narratives in the society. 

He also lamented that newsmen had been operating under a harsh and unfriendly environment, advising the Nigeria Government to take cues from other nations on how journalists are being treated warmly. 

Adeyeri made the disclosure while receiving an award of excellence bestowed by the Department of Mass Communication, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA).

According to the Department, the business man merited the award following the recognition of his unwavering support and positive contribution to societal development.

At the first edition of the late Shola Ilesanmi memorial writing competition, held at Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall inside AAUA, Adeyeri was represented by Surv. Atunbi Amodu.

While receiving the award, the former House of Representatives Aspirant, extolled the virtues of the organizers of the event, saying he was elated for being recognized by the communication industry. 

He also expressed optimism that Journalists in the country would abrogate the prevailing ugly narratives on social vices via the powerful influence of the media. 

Adeyeri added that the role of media cannot be overemphasized, as the society solely depends on pieces of information emanating from the media space. 

He, however, urged cub journalists to always toe the ethics of the noble profession, saying by doing this, they won’t be caught in the web of unprofessionalism.
