The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command has arrested and paraded three suspected criminals for various offences.
They were arrested for crimes ranging from obtaining by false pretense, illegal possession of counterfeit money and vandalization of transformer.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Pedro Awili Ideba paraded the three suspects who were identified as Oladele Ayuba from Ilorin, kwara state, Abiodun Oluwaseun and Jayeola Tosin before the Press at the Command headquarters in Akure.
He said, Oladele Ayuba who claimed to be an Islamic cleric was accused of obtaining by false pretense, for duping unsuspecting clients who patronised him for prayers of various amounts ranging from N300,000 to N36,000,000.
According to him, Ayuba was arrested following a complaint by one of his victims, Tajudeen Ekundayo who lost four million, three hundred thousand Naira (N4,300,000) to the syndicate.
Commandant Pedro said, immediately the complaint was lodged at the Command HQ, his men swung into action and arrested the man who is the kingpin of the syndicate in Arigidi Akoko while other members of
the syndicate are still at large.
Commandant Pedro added that other criminal activities ranging from kidnapping, ritual killing and fraud had been traced to him and the king of Arigidi Akoko, Zaki of Arigidi has written a letter to the state command about the criminal activities like kidnapping, ritual killing and fraud that have been committed and traced to the man.
The king said he does not want to see the man in the community again. So many fetish items and a car were recovered from the suspect.
Also paraded was one Abiodun Oluwaseun who specialised in
printing and spending counterfeit Naira, he was arrested after using N 24,000 fake N 1,000 denomination to buy goods from one provision seller.
The woman reported the case to the State command and the men of the Corps trailed the syndicate and arrested one of them while others are still at large.
The Civil Defence boss also said one Jayeola Tosin known as
Asala was arrested in Ikare Akoko for vandalizing transformer cables.
He said the suspect was arrested by men of the Nigeria army and handed over to the Corps for further investigation and prosecution.
Commandant Pedro assured the members of the public that justice would prevail in the matter; adding that the has commenced the process of arraigning all the suspects in court for prosecution.
While stressing that the law must surely take its full course, he said his men in collaboration with other security
agencies are fully determined to rid the State of Criminal elements.
