Chairman of the Transition Committee of 2015 presidential polls and elder statesman, Ahmed Joda has disclosed that his committee did not find former Minister of Finance Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala wanting for wrong doing.
Joda, who stated this in Yola during interaction with journalists, maintained that despite huge sum of money looted during Jonathan’s administration, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) did not find any evidence that the former Finance Minister was involved in misappropriation of funds.
The elder statesman expressed surprise at Okonjo-Iweala’s, action of not resigning even when it became obvious many in the administration were not acting in good conscience.
According to him, despite the deceit committed by some persons during the administration, Okonjo-Iweala was very clever to seek presidential approval and by so doing shielded herself.
He noted that such tactfulness from her made it difficult for anyone including the EFCC to be able to link her to misappropriation of funds.
In view of Iwela’s impeccable qualities, Joda sees no reason why President Muhammadu Buhari should not bring back her back to help overhaul the economy due to the economic recession.
Joda said, the current economic challenges bedeviling the country, should not necessarily be blamed on the immediate past administration stressing that the problem was traceable.
According to him, no one can excuse himself of culpability because since independence everyone had engaged in “defrauding Nigeria”.
He expressed confidence in the transparent leadership of present administration and called on Nigerians to support the the administration in its development stride.
