Ogun Govt Partners Nestle On Water Sustainability

Ogun State Ministry of Environment has collaborated with Nestle Nigeria PLC to address the challenges of water sustainability in the state.
The partners jointly organized a forum on water sustainability to mark year 2022 World Water Day 
On the occasion, Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, enjoined every stakeholder in the water sector to cooperate with the ministry to ensure appropriate and sustainable management of water resources in Ogun State.
The deputy governor was represented by Hon. Kola Salako, the senior special assistant to the governor.
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nestle Nigeria PLC, Elhusseini Wassim, said that his organization is committed to responsible water resource management, stressing that at Nestle they rely on water throughout the company’s supply chain and operations.
He declared: “We therefore recognize our role in helping to ensure access to safe water and sanitation in communities near our operations and will continue to invest in responsible water stewardship in our factories.”
Wassim said that Nestle’s partnership with Ogun State’s Ministry of the Environment for this year’s commemoration of World Water Day is in line with the company’s commitment to the world together with local and global stakeholders to address shared watershed challenges.
He was represented at the event by Gloria Nwabuike, the Category and Marketing Manager of Nestle Waters.
The theme of this year’s World Water Day is “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.” it drew attention to the hidden water resource that has always been critically important. Groundwater is invisible but its impact is visible everywhere.
World Water Day, which has been holding on 22nd March every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater.
