Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has appealed to Ulamas in the state to make best use of their Qur’anic schools in offering special prayers for the restoration of peace and stability in the state and the country in general.
Governor Dikko made the plea at a Mauludil Nabiyyu celebration held at the premises of Madrusatul Darul Imam Unguwar Liman in Katsina metropolis where he observed that only prayers can save innocent citizens from attacks and harassment by bandits.
Governor Radda appreciated the advice and prayers by Islamic clerics in the state, and promised to continue to make use of them.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda appealed to the Ulamas to also pray for the victory of youths known as Security Watch engaged by his administration to support providing security at the front line local governments facing security challenges in the state.
Speaking at the event, a member of the management team of the Islamiyya school Malam Dahiru Imam said the Islamiyya started as Tsangaya fiqhu class over ninety years ago was later transformed to Islamiyya school with branches spread within and outside the State.
Malam Dahiru Imam however, appreciated Governor Dikko Umar Radda for massive recruitment of over seven thousand teachers which is the first of its kind in the history of Katsina State.
This he said was in addition to recruiting about one thousand five hundred youths to serve as security watch intended to give support in providing security at front line local governments facing challenges. The annual Maulud celebration led by the chief Imam of Katsina Central Mosque, Imam Gambo Mustapha also had in attendence, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiraya Daura, member representing Katsina Alhaji Ali Abu Albaba and the Commissioner for Religious Affairs Ishaq Shehu Dabai, among others.
