NRC Denies Abandoning Passengers In Bush

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Northern District has debunked a media report that passengers were abandoned In a bush for some days when Kano-Lagos Train broke down.
Engineer Tyem Erdoo James, acting Regional District Manager (RDM) North debunked the report while reacting to the claims which he described as misleading.
He said the train left Kano Station on January 31, at exactly 9am, but developed a mechanical problem with
Passengers travelling from Kano to Lagos on board the Nigerian Railway Corporation’s train service before reaching Zaria station.
Engr.Erdoo James said, their team of engineers  from Zaria arrived the scene immediately and worked tirelessly, resulting to the train continuing its journey and had to stop in Kaduna  to disengage the passengers because of the incident along Kaduna – Minna involving a cargo train.
The acting RDM also said that the corporation paid all passengers on board the money they purchased tickets at Kaduna.
He assured Nigerians that they are working hard towards restoring the Kano – Lagos train service without further delays.
“Accordingly, the corporation will not relent on its determination in providing good and quality services to it’s numerous customers,” he added.

It would be recalled that,the Nigerian government had in September 2021, resumed the Lagos-Kano express train service after it was suspended over COVID-19 pandemic.
