Visiting Kwara United of Ilorin, yesterday, held Rangers Inter. FC of Enugu to a goaless draw in the Week 24 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), played at the 25,000 capacity Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, home of the Flying Antelopes.

With the result, Rangers now occupy fourth position with 41 points in the  NPFL log, while the visiting side are on 17th position with 26 points.

Our correspondent reports that the Afonja boys took firm control of the 90 minutes encounter, making it extremely difficult for the Rangers boys to kiss the opponent’s net.

Rangers porous midfield and defence departments did not help the host team, as they could not convert several chances that came their way.

Speaking with sports journalists at the end of the 90 minutes gam, Kwara United Chief Coach, Tunde Sani expressed joy over the outcome of the game.

He assured  fans that despite their current position the club will survive  relegation, adding that they had come to pick a point in Enugu.

Sani described Rangers team as a good side, sressing that he would do everything technically possible to address issue of playing draws in their home game.

In his brief interview, Rangers Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu said the outcome of the match is “very very sad” blaming the result on players fatigue.

“Though, this is football, and anything can happen during matches” saying they will go back to the drawing board and return to the winning way.
