The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has expressed delight over the news of the judgment by Justice Evelyn Anyadike of  Federal  High Court Umuahia, declaring the controversial Section 84(12) of the recently Signed Amended Electoral Act invalid.
They explained that the court has further affirmed its authority as the last hope of the common man, stressing that it has whipped to selfish public servant who think that they can manipulate their offices for selfish gains.
A statement issued by Comrade Isah Abubakar, President, Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, said, “The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has the received the news of the landmark judgement By Courageous Justice Evelyn Anyadike of  Federal  High Court Umuahia, declaring the controversial Section 84(12) of the recently Signed Amended Electoral Act invalid with so much joy. Stressing that, the Court has further affirmed its authority as the last hope of the common man and whip to selfish public servant who think that they can manipulate their offices for selfish gains.” According to the group, if not for the selfishness on the side of the Members of the National Assembly, they wouldn’t have contemplated inserted what it called “that annoying component” in the country’s electoral system, thanking God that Courts are there to shoot down such controversial laws.
The group lamented that some members of the National Assembly were behind the annoying section of the law that strategically planned to have competitive advantage over others as 2023 elections draws nearer.
It observed that with this, they should use the strength of their offices couple with their achievements over the years to contest without infringing on the right of others to occupy offices in the country.
