Normalcy Returns To Ebonyi After Suspected IPOB Attack

Economic activities have resumed in Ezzamgbo junction after suspected IPOB attack on Monday. 

In a visit to the area, yesterday morning, many people were seen displaying their goods and foodstuff, while customers were  seen patronizing them.

Many vehicles, motorcycles, and tricycles were  moving to different locations for their businesses.

In an interview with Mr.Ede Chukwuma, who operates a commercial motorcycle  service, he said they don’t operate on Monday’s because of the insecurity in the area, calling on government to do everything possible to ensure security of lives and property.

Another man, who doesn’t  want his name in print, explained that the fear of insecurity has really affected their businesses as many customers don’t come out on Mondays, lamenting that many vehicles, shops and tricycles were destroyed during the Monday attack. 

He therefore, called on government to come for their rescue. 

It would be recalled that on Monday, during the attack,  no fewer than three vehicles and four motorcycles  were burnt down. Also,  shops were torched during the attack.

An eyewitness who wouldn’t want his name on print , said that the attack was carried out by suspected hoodlums that were trying to enforce sit-at-home in the area around 9:00am.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Onome Onovewakpoya said the suspected IPOB hoodlums during the attack, burnt three commuter buses, four motorcycles and one tricycle,  but no life was lost.

On 02/10/2023, Armed men suspected to be IPOB/ESN members in a sienna car attacked commuter buses, tricycle and motorcycles at Ezzangbo junction .

`They burnt down 3 commuter buses, 4 motorcycles and 1 tricycle.

No life was lost.

“Operatives of the Command have been dispatched to the scene and it environs to fish out the perpetrators.

`And we believe that  the perpetrators will be apprehended.”
