NOA reverses security alarm on South West, says Military capable of dealing with all threats

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reversed the erlier alarm raised on the security threat to the South West by its Ekiti State directorate asserting that the Nigerian military is capable of neutralizing any threat to security of lives and property.
In statement signed by Paul Odenyi, Assistant Director, Press of the agency in Abuja, it said its attention has been drawn to a news item emanating from the Ekiti state Directorate of the Agency which was published in the media on the alleged plan by Boko Haram to attack the South West part of the country.
It explained that “the Director General of the Agency Mike Omeri said the Agency is sure about efforts by the Government, military and other security agencies to contain all manner of threats to our nation’s peace, security and harmony, it is unaware of plans to attack any specific part of the country.
“He however said the Agency continues to advise citizens to be alert and security conscious and take the extra steps to report any suspicious movements, activities or persons in their neighbourhood.
“He also directed State directorates of the Agency to always limit their public comments to sensitization and mobilisation of citizens in support of government policies, programmes and activities and be guided by the provisions of the mandate and functions of the agency.
“We express our solidarity and confidence to the heroic effort of our military and all security forces who are working hard to ensure the realization of the objectives of the present administration to rid our nation of all threats to peace and security which shall soon materialize” the statement concluded.
