Nigeria Must Embrace Restructuring To Move Forward – Ladoja

Former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja has declared that Nigeria needs restructuring to move forward the way it should be.

High Chief Ladoja said this in Ibadan while speaking as the Chairman at the opening of the Oyo state NUJ Council 2022 Press week held at the council’s Press Centre, Iyaganku on Monday.

The Otun Olubadan emphasized that it is glaring that Nigeria cannot continue like this if the country is to be witnessing the much needed, peace ,  growth and development .

High Chief Ladoja stressed that the way the country is presently, ” we need restructuring or whatever name we might it for the country to be in the right path.

” We need restructuring or whatever name we call it, we need it. We have to find a way of solving the big problem of Nigeria. There is no  doubt in the fact that we have problem in the country. We cannot continue in this form”, he said.

The Otun Olubadan maintained that it is now time for Nigerians especially the media to dig deep and put the country on the right channel as the 2023 general elections is approaching.

High Chief Ladoja said there must be a change in the 2023 polls , saying, ” we can’t continue like this. Nigeria can do better if we know what we doing ‘.

The guest lecturer, Professor Isaac Olawale Albert in his lecture tittled ” Violent Extremism and the Prospect of the 2023 elections” said journalists in the country have most important roles to play in shaping the 2023 general elections to the benefits of Nigerians in general.

Prof Albert emphasized that all eyes are on Nigeria towards the 2023 general elections as its outcome will go a long way in determining the future of the country.

The University Don pointed out that Nigerians particularly the Media should be more committed to and work for peace to reign in the 2023 general elections, saying, ” all we want is peaceful election, we don’t want election that will create rancour and division in the country.”

He advised that journalists should this time around desist from publishing report that will further create tension for Nigerians on the coming general elections as well as threatening the peace and stability of the country.

In doing this, Prof Albert tasked NUJ to put in place framework to regulate and monitor how various news platforms mostly the social media will not be used to cause problem in the nation through their publications.

Declaring the Press week open, Gov Seyi Makinde represented by his deputy, Barrister Adebayo Lawal charged Nigerian journalists to at all times be objective in their reports as another general elections is approaching.
