Nigeria @61: We Need Unity To Move Forward, Make It Great – Gov Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Thursday called on Nigerians to at all times join hands to move the country forward, and in making it better and greater.
Speaking during an ‘Independence Day Walk’ led on his behalf by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG),  Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, the governor declared that there is the need for unity to enable the country move forward.
Engineer Makinde said the present administration in Oyo state “is interested in sports development,”, saying, “the state is lucky to have a governor who has interest in keeping fit”.
“We have just had a walk commemorating the 61st anniversary of Nigeria. We are a government that is very interested in sports development. So, this walk today shows how fit we are”, he said
The governor added, ” I believe you can also see all the members of the cabinet present here, walking to commemorate Nigeria. The message on this is multiple.The first one is that Nigeria is 61 and there are a lot of things we need to be proud about, having achieved them as a nation”.
”  But there is still a lot of work to be done. We are asking all of us, the good people of Oyo State, to put our hands together to work to make Oyo State and Nigeria better. We should not leave it for the government alone.”
The 2.5-Kilometre walk which took off from the Government House Arcade, Agodi, to Total Garden roundabout and ended at the entrance of the Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan was attended by top government functionaries and other members of the public.
It was attended by the Chief of Staff, Hon.Segun Ogunwuyi, Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Majeed Mogbonjubola, Commissioners and other political appointees.
