The National Division One Handball League has commenced in Benin City, Edo State.
The second tier league, which is proudly sponsored and hosted by the Edo State Government, officially commenced on Sunday as handball clubs from states and academies converged on Benin City on the arrival day.
Over thirteen teams in the male and female categories have so far indicated interest in participating in the league
The Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Almu Umar Lambu confirmed that there was a technical meeting of officials and coaches of respective teams as well as referees and the technical committee.
The National Division One Handball League is a promotional league wherein four teams ( two each in the men and women category) will gain promotion to play in the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2023.
