One of the leading Presidential aspirants on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Peter Obi has called on those Nigerians who have been feeding fat on the nation’s scarce resources as national cake without commiserate contributions to the economy to look elsewhere as such would no longer be tolerated.
Obi, who spoke in Uyo on Monday, while paying a consultative visit to Akwa Ibom State delegates to PDP National Convention, said the national cake has finished, therefore, noting would be shared anymore.
The presidential hopeful, who is a former Governor of Anambra State said that for a new Nigeria desirous of all to emerge, it would require those who will create wealth not ones who will consume the wealth without contributing to it.
According to Obi the era of sharing Nigeria’s cake is over, and so there is nothing to share anymore but to create resources.
“No more national cake. The cake we were sharing has finished. What we need now is to bake a new cake and this requires us to have a new Nigeria where our youth will be given a future.
“Our nation needs another group of leaders who will emerge to produce resources to take care of the next generation.
“My mission is to change Nigeria from consumption to production and from wealth sharing to wealth creation.
“We would have a new system where the teeming unemployed youth are given a future . They are going to be driving the process. So, there is nothing to share. What to consume without producing is finished , we are now talking about production.
“The new Nigeria will be creating and producing not the Nigeria where people are sharing money,” Obi posited.
He listed key areas to tackle in the economy such as education, security, power generation and manufacturing to reposition the nation for greater heights
Obi also mentioned inability to control the economy and insecurity as factors that contributed to a failed state adding that the time to rescue Nigeria is now.
He therefore urged Akwa Ibom delegates to vote with the pictures of their children in mind and not in personality of any candidate and ethnic consideration.
Responding, the state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Aniekan Akpan commended Mr. Peter Obi for coming to consult with Akwa Ibom delegates, saying he was the first among other aspirants to visit them.
Akpan also described Mr Obi as a straight forward person with integrity and a personality that Nigerians as a people need to rescue them from poverty and lack by building a dream Nation of the forebears.
He assured him of their supports because as a party, PDP is one in the state, and will always move as one to cast their votes.
