Nasarawa Councilor Commissions 3 Boreholes, Empowers 320 Less Privileged Women, Others

The Councilor representing Gudi Electoral Ward at Akwanga Legislative Arm in Nasarawa State, Hon. Shuaibu Aliyu Kachalla, has distributed various items aimed at economically empowering 320 less privileged women and other constituents to mark his 1-year in office. 

Kachalla who described empowerment as one of the best measures to end poverty said he was giving out the items in fulfillment of his campaign promise. 

He had promised to expend his salary annually in touching the lives of women and other less privileged persons in Gudi. 

The items were distributed during an event tagged, “Phase II Gudi Women Empowerment Programme” held at the premises of Gudi Mordern Market, Gudi. 

Items that were distributed to the beneficiaries include deep freezers, sewing machines, wheel barrows and wrappers worth millions of naira. 

Other beneficiaries mostly women received cash gifts in order to enhance their socioeconomic status. 

The councilor had earlier commissioned three (3) motorised boreholes to provide residents with potable water. 

The boreholes were drilled at Angwan Baba Agwa, Gangaren Kwata and Agwan Bello areas of the ward. 

One of the beneficiaries, Hauwa Sunday who received a sewing machine thanked the Councilor and prayed that God would continue to bless him so that he would, in turn continue to reach out to the needy and less privileged in society.

Other beneficiaries who expressed appreciation to the Councilor for his kindness and care for the less privileged included Aisha Abdullahi, Sarah Danladi and Happy Bagaji among others. 

Highlights of the event was the presentation of the empowerment items to the beneficiaries and cultural displays from Eggon, Mada and Rindre dance troupes of the area. 

The event was attended by residents of the electoral ward from all walks of life who commended the Councilor for keeping to his campaign promise. 

Dignitaries in attendance include the Chim Nku, HRH Ambassador Habila Adamu Aboki; Hakimi Gudi, Alhaji Yusuf Sule; Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Mohammed Idris and a former member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Raymond Akolo. 

Others include the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council, Alhaji Safiyanu Isah; Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Yakubu Bohar Kwanta; Chairman of Kokona Local Government Council, Hon. Auwalu Adamu and the Executive Secretary of NSUBEB, Hajiya Hasiya Ahmed. 

The state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. John Mamman and the members representing Kokona East Constituency at the State Assembly, Daniel Ogah Ogazi also attended the event.
