The Adamawa State Government on Wednesday directed  the State ministry for Justice to take necessary action against contractors who allegedly absconded with N4.8 billion Milienium Development Goals (MDG) funds in the state during Nyako”s administration.
The state governor, Muhammad Umar Jibrilla Bindow gave the directive while receiving the investigative panel report on the implementation of MDG contracts under Nyako administration.
Bindow said that his administration thrives on transparency and accountability, adding  that the misuse of state resources would not be overlook.
He maintained that the era of shortchanging the people of the state was gone and that his administration was committed to clearing the rot in the system.
The governor, while referring the reports to the State Attorney  and commissioner for justice, Bala Sanga, directed him to take necessary actions.
Earlier, Alhaji Alfa Bellel, the chairman of the committee told the governor that the MDG office refused to provide payment vouchers between 2007 and 2009.
According to him,  the office provided the committee with payment vouchers from 2010 till date, adding that N11 billion was receive by the MDG within the time under review, nothing that some projects were not executed.
He said that 1591 contracts were awarded but only 300 were fully paid, while  some of the contracts were fully paid without contract sites.
The chairman said that the committee also uncovered huge sums as un-remitted tax within the time under review, adding  that the committee had toured all the 21 local governments in the state to access the contract cites.
While commending the governor for cooperating with the committee, Bellel also thanked Bindow for finding them worthy to serve the state in such capacity.

It could be recalled that Bindow had some months ago  constituted an investigative committee into the implementation of MDG contracts under the Nyako administration, a development many perceived as an attempt to witchhunt the former governor.
