Manpower Development: Yobe Govt Trains 76 Civil Servants At ASCON

As Yobe State Civil Service witnesses the exit of many civil servants who were employed in the former Borno State, Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the training of 76 civil servants of different cadres and professions at Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Lagos State.

The Head of the Civil Service, Garba Bilal at a brief farewell ceremony at his office in Damaturu, asked the participants to be good ambassadors of the state and urged them to ensure the stepping-down of the training to their subordinates.

“Let me use this forum to inform you that one of the most important cardinal principles of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration is to ensure civil servants are trained.  If you are not trained, you cannot perform your duties efficiently and effectively and you will be moving from one office to another, but if you know your work, you will do it to the best of your ability.

“Government is expending this huge amount of money to build your carrier and you should not take it for granted. After completion, on return with the certificates acquired; some of you will automatically be promoted to the next grade level, therefore I urged you to be a good ambassador of the state: he said.

Garba Bilal further explained, another batch of the participants would soon be released in August for the same training.

Bulama Yusuf, the facilitator of the ASCON Programme at the office of the head of service explained that 76 participants from different fields would be benefit from the two week training in Lagos and government has provided air tickets, accommodation, feeding, training fees among other miscellaneous to all the participants.

 “Those to benefit from the training include, 19 participants in Advanced Human Resource, 19 in Middle Management Course, 10 in Administrative Principles, 9 in Treasury Management as well as 19 in Financial Management Course” he explained.

Some of the participants, Ya’u Sabo of Science and technical Board, Falmata Abubakar Sadiq from Teaching Service Board, Abubakar Mohammed from Ministry of Finance well as Adamu Jibrin Lenge who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Civil Service Union commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for prioritizing training and retraining of the civil servants.

“From the inception of the present the Head of Service Alhaji Garba Bilal, the administration of Hon Mai Mala Buni has so far trained the fourth batch of civil servants at ASCON among other training institutes which remain the highest ever in the history of the state.”
