“Celebrates 3yrs of Single Ownership by Oyo Govt

The acting Vice-Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu on Thursday, disclosed that 2,754 students are to graduate from the Institution on Friday.

Professor Liasu who said this at a press parley held at the Institution’s Council Chamber added that the University is now waxing stronger since Oyo State government secured it’s full ownership three years ago.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the Institution ” researches have continued to consolidate on the leading positions and that has continued to impact positively on the image of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology”.

He also expressed delight at the University being ranked by world renown ranking body, webometrics, as number seven in the Country and the best State University, adding, both staff and students of the University are committed to doing more in the coming years.

” It is my pleasure to inform you that that our researches have continued to consolidate on the leading positions and that has continued to impact positively on the image of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, “ he said.

The Vice Chancellor added, “ For instance, in the year under review, five members of the academics in our University, former Provost of the College of Health Sciences; Professor Samuel Sunday Taiwo of the department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, leader of the LAUTECH NANO+ Research group and renowned decorated researcher; Professor Agbaje Lateef, onetime member of the Governing Council; Professor Ojeyemi Olabemiwo, as well as Dr. Ajamu Solomon Olalere and Professor Falohun Adeleye Samuel, did the University proud by winning National 2021 National Research Fund of Tetfund.”

Professor Liasu stressed further  that 8 students are graduating with first class while 332 are graduating  with second Class Upper degree and that 766 will bag degrees in the Second Class lower category, while 249 others will finish in third class category and that the remaining 13 students are to graduate with Passes.

He maintained that 63 students will be graduating in the Faculty of Clinical Science with MBBS, while 1286 are graduating from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences with 1,962 students earning their post-graduate degrees.

Prof Liasu added that the

breakdown of the figure includes 55 new Ph.D. holders, while 1883 are graduating with Masters degrees. A cumulative total of twenty-four (24) are also going home with Postgraduate Diplomas.

He noted that this year’s Convocation is unique in many ways as it would also include the investiture of the University’s 6th Chancellor, His Majesty Sir Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, the Paramount ruler of Emouha Kingdom in Rivers State.

Sir Awuse, DSSRS, Nne-Nwe-Eli Emohua Xlll (Olo IV), as the Chancellor of the 33-year-old institution.
