LASTMA Retrains 309 Junior Officers To Promote Professionalism

In an avowed determination to promote professionalism for service delivery, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Monday, began an intensive IN-HOUSE TRAINING PROGRAMMe for 309 junior officers across zones for more effective service delivery to the general public.

The programme, according to a statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, is line with the on-going strategic re-positioning of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for professionalism and a more effective service delivery.

In the statement, the General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare-Oki Olelakan disclosed during the opening ceremony of the ‘Re-Training Programme’ that the exercise is in line with ‘traffic management and transportation’ as one of the cardinal programmes of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s ‘Themes+’ pillars for development of the State. 

Mr. Bakare-Oki said further that the re-training exercise is primarily meant to create a new image for the agency that would guarantee a refined and robust Traffic Management System (T.M.S) in the State as well as reduce traffic congestions across the State.

He confirmed that the execise which would run for four (4) days began today with the re-training of first batch of 81 Junior Officers (Males & Females) and is expected to end on Thursday, 1st of February, 2024.

“We map out new re-training modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten our Officers on new innovative ways to optimize their operations to meet up with International standard and best practices in traffic management”, the LASTMA Boss added.

Earlier in his welcome address, Lastma Director of Human Capacity, Development and Specialized Training Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba thanked the Government for approving the re-training programme for the Agency. 

He maintained that the exercise would promote professionalosm and quality road management service delivery across the State. 

Course contents for the retraining exercise include: Leadership Qualities, Operational Guidelines, Empathy and Emotionally Management, Enforcement without Agression, Traffic Incidents Management and Safety, Attitudinal Change in Traffic Management, Human Right Law Standards, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Discipline, Ethics and Standard in Traffic Management, Enhanced Capacity, Service Efficiency and Reliability and Religious Discretion in Traffic Management.
