As part of celebration of his 65th birthday, former governor of Kano State, Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has commissioned Amana Sanatorium in the state.

Located at Jido, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, the Sanatorium has been established by Kwankwasiyya Foundation as a private rehabilitation clinic, depression management and reformatory centre.Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, held at the premises of the centre on Thursday, Kwankwaso said the facility has been established in order to help in the fight against drug abuse among youth in the state.

According to Kwankwaso, a former Senator representing Kano central, the centre has been founded in order to rehabilitate youth drug addicts in order to build their future.

He noted that the power of youth is what makes them to be at the forefront of identifying the Kwankwasiyya movement, adding that youths are given special regard even in developed countries.

The former governor recalled that two years ago, when he celebrated his 63rd birthday, he commissioned a female health collage, named after his mother, Nafisatu in his hometown, Madobi Local Government, saying “I did that for my commitment to improve healthcare delivery, especially for women and children.

”We have also established a 60-bed hospital, named Amana Hospital. We are now planning to get partners to run the facility concurrently. We are doing all this in order to build future for our youths, who are the symbol Kwankwasiyya movement.

“That is why we sponsored 370 indigenous youths to study masters degrees in various institutions abroad. Now, about 150 of them are employed,”

Kwankwaso therefore, called on the general public to patronize the Sanatorium in order to check the rising cases of drug abuse and other ailments associated with depression.
