As rumours of violence that usually characterise voters on election day is rife in Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello has assured Kogites not to be scared of any anticipated violence and troop out en masse to vote for APC candidate in the forthcoming Governorship election scheduled for November 11.
The assurance was given in Okene during the weekend, at a mega rally organised in Kogi Central by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo in Okene on Saturday.
According to the governor, “today I am in charge, I am assuring you Mr. President that in Kogi State, there will be no violence. We are going to win overwhelmingly. We have started it from Kogi East, you saw the crowd. We started from Kogi West, you saw the crowd”.
An elated Bello was optimistic as he was enthralled by the throng that graced the rally that was never witnessed in the rallies before, adding that this is a testament that “we have put the lives of our people ranging from infrastructure, to security, to health, to education, to transparency and accountability”.
Governor Bello asserted that the government of Kogi state has been able to raise leaders of today and tomorrow and not touts as the state emulates his footsteps.
“Let nobody truncate it, Kogi people are not going to allow anybody to truncate it” stressing that those who do not see anything good about this adminstration are mere politicians in diaspora.
“In fact, Your Excellency, some of those jesters who are jesting, thinking they want to come and bust their luck are political jobbers.
Bello recalled that one of the jester’s father who was kidnapped in the past was rescued by one of his local government chairmen, specifically Allahaji Abu Odoma of Ida Local Government who entered the bush along with his hunters, vigilantes, police and other security agencies within 48 hours.
“So if they are saying that nothing is done, it means they want to come and learn and there is no room for learning again because the APC candidate is certificated and certified” governor Bello confirmed with a note of finality.
He said that the people of Kogi state are not ready to jeopardize the future of the state in the hands of people that are pathologically irresponsible and have stolen the APC money for record time.
He warned again, that merchants of trouble will be contained long before the time as he boasted that they cannot dare to scare or threaten “White Lion” with violence.
“We are going to contain you long before the time. I therefore urge all the security agencies to please sit down, do your job professionally and ensure that all the bad eggs are removed from our system. I crave the indulgence of all the citizens of Kogi State to please come and let us unite.
“Let us unite under the leadership of Ododo. Let us unite under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that all the goodies and dividends of democracy we shall enjoy,” he said.
While sincerely appreciating all for coming for the rally, he pleaded with the supporters to allow him to return to Ebira language, the only language that is spoken in heaven.
