Katsîna Govt Rolls Out N2bn Scholarship To Tertiary Institution Students

 Katsina State Government in collaboration with 34 local government councils in the state, will provide over two billion Naira as scholarship allowance to qualified indigent students studying at various institutions of higher learning across the country.

 The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanci disclosed this while briefing newsmen after the fifth executive council meeting presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda held at General Muhammadu (Government) House Katsina.

 Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanchi said the meeting also agreed on a joint project of ensuring three functional health centers at each of the 34 local government areas in the state.

 He said the centers would be fully equipped with needed medical facilities, ambulances and adequate manpower to operate twenty four hours.

This he said, would ensure patients receive medical attention at their respective local communities.

 Professor Charanci said the state government would also join hand with the local governments in stocking food items, supporting irrigation activities and provide empowerment support to yong men and women in the state.

 Government he said has directed local governments to identify irrigation sites and farmers to be supported with improved seeds, fertilizer, water pumps and tube wells.

 Professor Lawal Charanchi explained that the Executive Council Meeting had also agreed to jointly raise substantial sums of money for the payment of ten thousand naira monthly allowances to each of the six thousand six hundred and fifty-two ward heads, six thousand six hundred and fifty members of vigilante and over two-thousand Imams and their lieutenants  as among other steps to improve security across the state.
