Katsîna Governor Approves  N200m To Curb  Malnutrition

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has approved the release of  two hundred million Naira for the prevention and treatment of women and children afflicted with malnutrition.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Mohammed Kaula said the state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, explained that, the money was part of the counterpart fund to be provided by Katsina government and UNICEF for the procurement of nutrition commodities for the prevention and treatment of malnutrition among children and pregnant women, aimed at reducing maternal, infant and child illnesses and deaths.

“This is in fulfilment of Governor Dikko Radda’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Katsina State, through health promotion and disease prevention activities as encapsulated in His Excellency’s ‘Building Your Future’ (BY)

strategic blueprint,” the statement said.

However, the statement said 

Governor Dikko Radda has also approved for the commencement of Postgraduate Medical (Residency) Training Program for Doctors at two select Katsina Specialist Hospitals, in collaboration with the National and West African postgraduate Medical Colleges.

 This the statement said was aimed at producing medical consultants at state-level, thereby addressing the shortage of medical specialists and encouraging the retention of medical doctors in the state.
