Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state has approved the appointment of the former Deputy Governor of the state Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari as new Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS) with an immediate effect.
Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari was Deputy Governor of Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema during his second tenure as a Governor of Katsina State between 2011 and 2015.
Barrister Garba Faskari replaced Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa who was recently nominated as
Minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Governor Dikko Radda in a statement by his spokesman, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, said
Barrister Faskari was expected to bring on board his vast technocratic wealth of experience as he joined the State Government.
Governor Radda described the appointment of the new SGS to the State Government as “Putting a square peg in a square hole.”
“He is eminently qualified to join our progressive-minded administration, and I personally can vouch for his intellectual pedigree and exceptional administrative acumen,” the Governor emphasized.
Governor Radda assured that, the new SGS would filled the huge vacuum Architect Ahmed Dangiwa left behind. adding that,.the “new SGS is one of the accomplished public servants Katsina State has had in recent years and his contributions to the development and growth of the state, while serving as Deputy Governor to former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema, were unparalleled.”
Born in August 15,1959 at Funtua town, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari is a native of Faskari Local Government Area of the
State and attended Aya Primary School, Funtua, between 1966 to 1974, before proceeding to Teachers College, Dutsin-Ma in 1974.
After completing his studies at the Teachers College in 1980,
Alhaji Faskari’s ravenous appetite for scholarship took him to School of School of Basic Studies (SBS) at the Ahmadu Bello University,
(ABU) Zaria, and graduated in 1983.
Between 1984 and 1985, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari attended School of General Studies at the Bayero University Kano (BUK) before studying law at the same University and graduated in 1989.
Barrister Garba Faskari however, attended Lagos Campus of the Nigeria Law School, Lagos and graduated in 1990.
“Aside from having a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Degree (Second Class Upper), the incoming Katsina SSG holds a Master of Law (LL.M) Degreeand also Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree. He is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association; Institute of Management Consultant; and the Nigeria Association of Law Teachers,” Mohammed Kaula said in the statement.
Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari between 2003 and 2007 was the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice in Katsina State during the Second tenure of the late President, Malam Umaru Musa Yar’adua regime as Governor of the state.
He was again the Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice in the State between 2007 and 2009.
He was also Honourable
Commissioner of Education in State during the first tenure of Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema.
Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari was presently, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University in Katsina, Mohammed Kaula disclosed.
