Some staff of Kadunà State University (KASU) at its main campus in Kadunà, have cried out over what they termed ongoing deductions from salaries without any explanations whatsoever from the school’s management.

Speaking to our correspondent yesterday, one of those affected who pleaded anonymity, said that the deductions have been ongoing for three months, without any reasons given to those affected.

“This is something that has been bothering me and some other colleagues affected by the deductions from salaries paid in.

” This has been going on for three months. In the first month, over fifty thousand Naira was deducted when I saw my alert. I complained and was told it must have been an error that would be corrected.

“The second month, when September salary was paid, the same amount was again deducted from my pay.

” The worst is when October salary was paid, I noticed that over sixty thousand Naira was deducted, a situation that is beginning to affect me because even the full pay does not meet my needs with the current situation of our country’s economy,” the source lamented.

Speaking further, the source said that presently, the car being used to the office has been parked due to the rising cost of fuel following subsidy Removal.

Another source told our correspondent that from the October salary, over thirty thousand was deducted when the alert was received.

” We appreciate the government of Kaduna State for prompt payment of our salaries, however, this deduction that took place without explanation leaves me confused. It is difficult meeting family obligations as the bread winner, ” he said.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), KASU, Istifanus Tanimu declined comments, saying he doesn’t know our correspondent, hence he wouldn’t speak, hence neither confirming or debunking the allegations.

When called on phone, KASU PRO, Adamu Bargo confirmed that deductions were taking place.

He however, said that affected staff should wait till they get their pay slip to know why such amounts are being deducted.
