Kano State Fruits and Vegetables Farmers and Sellers Association now has a new interim leadership that would lead the association to the tenure of two years in order to restore the association from lack of leadership for many years.
Speaking to our correspondent shortly after the announcement of a 7-man caretaker committee, the national Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association, Alhaji Abubakar Senior disclosed that the newly constituted committee would certain bring progress to the association because the members are well known in the field of fruits and vegetables transactions over the years.
” I am confident that the chairman of the caretaker committee, Alhaji Usman Dan Gwari who has also remained in the field for over 30 years, would use his wealth of experience in transforming the association in Kano State because he is one of the longest serving tomato farmer and dealer in the Northern region,” he emphasized.
Alhaji Abubakar Senior lamented that Kano State is the backbone of tomato and other vegetables production, and the state for years lacks leadership that is postured towards the progress of the association that is why the national body decided to appoint a caretaker committee that would conduct business according to modern transactions.
He called on all the tomato farmers, buyers and dealers across Kano State to support the new leadership seeing that the association is now under one of the prominent personality who is well known at both Northern and Southern parts of the country.
In his acceptance remarks, the caretaker chairman, Alhaji Usman Dan Gwari announced that he would use his long practical experience to develop business and restore the glory of the association especially at present that the global economy is gradually advancing.
He noted that, “leading an association like fruits and vegetables dealers is very tough, but I would do my best to ensure that every member of the association benefits from the unity because without cooperation, there would be no progress in any non-government association”.
The caretaker committee includes, Alhaji Usman Dan Gwari as state chairman, Nuhu Dan Asabe as secretary, Alhaji Bala Karaye as treasurer and Yusuf Danladi as public relations officer, Malam Kabiru Bala as auditor and Haruna Iliyasu is to serve as organising secretary.
