The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has taken its awareness creation against risk of patronising banks it has not licensed to the 39th Kaduna International Trade Fair.
The corporation backed by several publications including handbills and books, is sensitizing the public.
Its representatives were seen distributing pamphlets to visitors to the fair.
In an interaction with our correspondent at their stand, one of the officials who did not want to be mentioned informed that as at the time of visit at about 11:30am on Tuesday February 27, 2018, no fewer than 300 visitors have signed their record books.
The source informed that they are focusing on creating awareness, to prevent bank depositors from losing funds lodged in accounts.
“NDIC is warning bank customers against putting money in unlicensed banks. We are letting then know their funds are only secured where banks are licensed and Cary NDIC stickers,” the source added.
Speaking further, she said that though it was not uncommon for unsuspecting public to fall for ponzi schemes as a result of prevailing harsh economic realities, but cautioned that such risks are not worth taking.
It was gathered that on March 1, by 11am the NDIC Special Day would be held at the fair and there would be a lucky dip, where several visitors to the stands who submitted their details, stand chances of winning prizes.
