The Director- General of Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan  has said that the agency  will embark on more awareness to grassroots for mobilisation  into the health scheme.

Hassan made this disclosure during a townhall meeting with stakeholders in Kaduna, on Tuesday.

He said that the survey conducted in the state shows that only two per cent of the population were aware of the health insurance scheme.

The DG said that the health scheme was collaborating with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) which has a good network to house-holds to deepen their sensitisation level.

” We are here today to collaborate with them in order to create awareness on the health insurance scheme by the state government and also to encourage them to enroll in the scheme.

” A simple survey conducted shows that only two per cent are aware of what the health scheme package is all about.

“The meeting with relevant stakeholders and creating awareness will help them achieve their goals.

” We are soliciting for your support because we know you will help us talk to people in a manner they will understand and register for the scheme, “he said.

He said that the state government brought about the contributory health scheme to actualise the universal health coverage.

He said further that, the contributory health scheme was a way of contributing funds for the payment of healthcare services by all residents of the state.

“The scheme will cover for health care services rendered to beneficiaries at their selected health care facilities.”

Hassan said that individual premium for health insurance at the agency cost, is N10,650 annually while the family premium cost N57,000 annually.

He added that the scheme is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that every resident of the state has access to quality and affordable healthcare service.

” We also ensure that all residents of Kaduna State have financial protection from the financial hardship of huge medical Bills.”

According to him, the scheme limits the rise in the cost of healthcare services.

” We ensure that the poor and vulnerable shall be guaranteed basic minimum package, as defined under the National Health Act.
