Kaduna Govt Prioritizes Agriculture In 2024 Budget

In its relentless pursuit to invest in human capital, upgrade infrastructure, boost agriculture and improve the living standard of citizen across the state, Kaduna State Government has unveiled  the key priorities for the upcoming 2024 Fiscal Year. 

These priorities closely align with the visionary 7-Point Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani.

The Chairman, Estimates Committee and Commissioner Planning and Budget Commission, Hon Muhktar Ahmed  made this statement while addressing members of the press at the just concluded 2024 to 2026 Multi-Year Proposed Expenditure Budget Defense, which took place at the Conference Hall, Planning and Budget Commission.

The Hon. Muhktar Ahmed provided insights into the state’s strategic direction for the next fiscal year, the primary areas of focus in the 2024 budget  will be on agriculture and rural development.

“Also, strengthen the institutions upgrading of infrastructure, investment in human  capital and nurturing citizens engagement.

“This alignment with Governor Uba Sani’s comprehensive agenda reflects the government’s commitment to driving sustainable growth and development in Kaduna State,” he said.

The commissioner highlighted that the 2024 budget, like previous years, adheres to a multi-year budgeting approach, extending beyond the immediate year to cover the fiscal period from 2024 to 2026. 

“This approach ensures comprehensive planning for the state’s financial future,” he added.

He credited the successes achieved in budget preparation to a series of crucial activities, including robust interactions with commissioners, active civil engagement, and comprehensive training of Planning and Budget officers across various state Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

While stressing the importance of MDAs meeting their revenue targets in 2024, Hon. Muhktar Ahmed  emphasized the role of the budget as a guiding instrument for transparent and efficient operations. 

The commissioner expressed sincere appreciation to donor partners in recognition of their valuable contributions to  the state’s development.

He also extended gratitude to the dedicated members of the Estimates Committee and participants  for their commitment to the success of the budget Defense.

The commissioner highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering stronger engagement with stakeholders, with a particular focus on Civil Society Organizations. 

He noted that, the engagement will occur before presenting the budget to the governor for its subsequent presentation to the State House of Assembly.
