Kaduna State Government in collaboration with Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRIN) has expressed commitment to giving orientation to nursing mothers on the significance of breast in the state.
The wife of Kaduna State Governor Hajia Aishat Ummi Garba el-Rufa’i, stated this during the World Breast Feeding Week (WBF), held in Makarfi, represented by the State Project Manager of KADENAP, Umar Usman Bambale.
In their seperate remarks, the State Advocacy and Publicity officers, Abdulkadir Randagi, and Muhammed Murtala Ibrahim, said nutrition health teams arrived to educate communities and celebrate the World Breast Feeding Week on August 4, 2022, to ensure access of breast milk feeding among nursing mothers across the 23 local government councils in the state, particularly Makarfi Local Government Area.
According to them, about five thousand and seventy five (5,075) people have benefited from the ongoing proactive measures to improve breast feeding campaign in the state.
Also speaking, Hauwa Usman, a Nutrition specialist with the Kaduna state Ministry of Health and Adolescents Aid Health Officer and Council Health Secretary, Dr. Philemon Gebriel, said breast consists of 75 per cent of hundred water, urging residents to always use what they have learnt on breast feeding for the betterment of their children’s health.
Responding, the wife of Makarfi Local Government Council Chairman, Hajiya Fatima Kabiru Mu’azu Meyere, Council Vice Chairman and Hon. Bello Sani Gimi, speaking seperately, charged nursing mothers and households to redouble their efforts on enlightening house wives on the importance of breast milk to new born babies at the first period of six months as directed.
They expressed delight to Kaduna State Government and ANRIN for the gesture.
The Accelerating Nutrition results in Nigeria (ANRIN) team leaders provided gifts to three specialists on breast feeding.
