Industrial Training Fund (ITF) says it has trained 11,100 beneficiaries in special skills in its National Skills Development Programme (NSDP).
Making this known in an interview with the New Nigerian, Abdullahi Ibrahim Tsoho, Assistant Director, Head of Administration and Human Resources Department, Kaduna Area Office, said 300 youths drawn from each state of the federation including Abuja took part in the training and that they have since passed out awaiting the start up packs needed to help them start the trade.
According to him, “they will be given start up packs in form of materials and equipment required to start their business with strict monitoring and effective supervision from ITF”.
He said the development and training programme is in collaboration with SMEDAN, the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Industry in line with the federal government resolve to creating employment.
” You will recall that the federal government desires to create 200 thousand jobs annually and this is what necessitated the partnership of ITF with the ministry and the agency, as you know, the ministry of industry is the mother of ITF,” he explained.
Speaking further, Alhaji Tsoho said the youth, majority of them graduates were trained in various skills ranging from shoe making, tailoring, plumbing, wielding and many others, stressing that the NSDP has professionals who trained these beneficiaries and will continue to train future beneficiaries.
He advised Nigerians especially the youths to visit ITF offices in their states and local government headquarters where they will be enlightened about the programme.
The programme which is continuous presently training centres in Lagos, Abuja, Jos and Kano.
