Jigawa State Government has approved the launching and implementation of Disability Trust Fund for women, children below ages of five, as well as  people living with disability across the state with a call on Women Affairs Ministry to come forward with a work plan for the formal launching of the programme in a week’s time.
When launched, women groups will continue to benefit from social investment programme of the federal government in receiving five thousand Naira monthly social allowance, in addition to receiving free medical attention, alongside  children below ages of five, and accident victims, under the Social Protection Bill.
Giving the order, the State Steering Committee Chairman of Social Protection Council, who is also the Jigawa  Deputy Governor, Alh. Umar Namadi gave the directives at the end of the Social Protection Council Meeting he chaired  at his office on Wednesday November 17, 2021.
During the delibrations, the council directed for onward payment of the proposed cash transfer for payment of outstanding monthly social allowance stipends  from the month of October, directing that such payments should start with those who were screened, despite challenges of BVN faced by over 25 per cent of the beneficiaries.

The stakeholders of the council with the combination of Co- ordinator of SOCU, Commissioner of Finance, Budget Directorate, Women Affairs Commissioner, among others were directed to summon  bank operations managers to discuss and uphold other adopted resolutions.
Other resolutions include distributing the Social Protection Bill to the council members for final reading and amendments adopted, and  approved within the next two weeks.
Similarly, the forum called for fruitful working synergy amongst stakeholders for effective implementation of the approved bill for the betterment of all and sundry, warning that emphasis should geared towards the affected target audience without any bias.
