Jigawa PWDs Call For Inclusion, Access To Social Trust Fund Participation

Members of the Jigawa Chapter of the People With Disabilities (PWDs) have called for inclusion and accessibility to the proposed Social Trust Fund with ease, as well participation in state government scheme of things.
“We are proud to announce that amongst us we have  educated and talented people who are capable of holding any government appointments, since we are blessed with educated fellows of different disciplines of human endeavours.”
This was the remark of the state chairman, Mohammed Usman during an interactive session organised by officials of ACF, an NGO  whose concern is to increase awareness on members of persons with disabilities for them to associate themselves with stakeholders of Social Protection Council to better their living which was held  at NUT state secretariat in Dutse.
He commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for the speedy passage and approval of the Disability Trust Fund Bill into law aimed at catering for the well-being of their members, stressing that this will go a long way in uplifting their living standards.
“As government intends to better our lot, we equally call upon it to as a matter of urgency, give the education of our kids  special attention it deserves, so that collectively, we would contribute to the growth and development of our state and the nation in general,” he said.
Usman further said that with their  population of 150,000 members across Jigawa State they call on the the state government to provide their wards qualitative education and employment opportunities among other essential services for improved and better living.
He commended Governor Badaru for approving the operational status of Disability Law aimed at bettering the general lot of members of persons with disabilities, saying, “we’re indeed most grateful upon this feat and hope for its smooth implementation for the betterment of our members.”
in her remarks, the Jigawa State Deputy Manager of ( ESPID) a UK founded programme on promotion of Social Protection Policy, stated that  theirs is to increase awareness in calling for inclusion, and gainful employment in both private and public sector to better the lots of  members of the PWDs.
“Our focus is to assist members of persons with disabilities on advocacy and increased awareness for them to explore their expertise  to gain inclusion and participation in government through gaining employment opportunities for self reliance,” she said.
About nine personalities were honoured by the members of PWDs association. 
They include the Executive Chairman Jigawa State Local Government Service Commission, DIG Uba Bala Ringim (rtd), Dutse and Kazaure local government councils chairmen, Bala Usman Chamo and Mohammed Mahmud respectively, Commissioner Women Affairs, Hajia Tatu Ringim, Executive Secretary, Rehabilitation  Board, Alh Raba Kaya, among others.
In his remarks on behalf of the awardees, DIG Uba Bala Ringim (rtd) thanked the association for the gesture and assured them of their continued support in promoting their activities at all times.
He advised Governor Badaru to assist the association in their bid towards in erecting a befitting Secretariat in Dutse the state capital. 
“I salute your courage in acquiring a piece of land for the erection of your own state secretariat. 
“I also enjoin members of the public especially the public spirited individuals in our midst to fully support this viable initiative through offering their generous contributions,” he added.
