A lecturer at the Polytechnic Ibadan was on Monday shot by suspected armed robbers during an invasion on the institution’s staff quartets by the robbers.
New Nigerian gathered that the lecturer with the institution’s Department of Biology, Emmanuel Okedara was shot in the early hours of Monday by the armed robbers.
The shot lecturer is said to be receiving treatment at the University College Hospital, (UCH), intensive Care Unit where sources said he is responding to treatment as at the time of sending this report.
Our Correspondent learnt that the armed robbers arrived the staff quarter at the North campus axis of the Polytechnic around 12.30am
The armed robbers were said to have invaded some of the flats housing lecturers of the institution and carted away belongings worth millions of naira..
Speaking with the New Nigerian, the Institutions Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole while confirming the story said the shot lecturer is presently responding to treatment.
Alhaji Adewale disclosed that the institution has put necessary security arrangements in place to forestall future occurrences.
