Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has expressed delight on remarkable achievements recorded in the state  from inception in the last 31 years in terms of physical and human capital development.

Speaking during a broadcast to the people of the state at the weekend, he  said, Jigawa  was created to bring government closer to the people particularly in the rural areas and based on what is on ground,  the state and the mission are on track.

“As leaders of the state at various times, we have made tremendous contributions to the state which makes us all proud,” he said.

According to him, least among their achievements is the tremendous increase in number of   primary, secondary schools and higher institutions.

“On water supply, we are second in terms of water and sanitation in Nigeria. We have the best road networks, we are at the forefront in promoting use of technology in agriculture, we excel in IT and many other fields of human endeavours.

“Therefore, our state is on the path of attaining sustainable development with strong and resilient local economy,” Governor Badaru stated.

But a citizen,  Mal. Hudu Guri in his remarks, more is expected in the health sector as most  Jigawa  health facilities are in shambles.

“Majority of our general hospitals are without qualify doctors and nurses. No adequate drugs in most of our hospital’s pharmacy departments and our health workers are complaining of poor renumeration of service,” he added.

Another speaker, Comrade Bello Gida Dubu said his worries is on water supply.

” It is  disheartening that Governor Badaru’s spending on water supply is yet to make impact as government has  failed to rectify the perennial water scarcity facing metropolitan Dutse, due to broken down water pipes unattended to.

“All the major water ways and reservoirs  taking care of water supply from the main reservoir in Metropolitan Dutse are broken down and the state government failed to rectify the anomalies, leaving  household’s to rely on water vendors on N30 to N40 per  gallon of water thereby,  consuming N200 to N300 water  for domestic use on daily basis”.  He lamented.
