The maiden edition of Honourable Shehu Ibrahim Gusau half Marathon and athletics competition ended in Kaduna weekend with Jigawa State emerging the overall winners of the zonal competition.
The competition which was organised by the National Sports Commission North-West zone and sponsored by Honurable Shehu Ibrihim Gusau saw athletes from the six states of the North-West zones taking part in the half-Marathon.
Jigawa State, garnered 45 points ahead of Kano State that came second on the log with with 20 points while host Kaduna state, finished third with 18 points.
Other North-Western states that took part in the competition include; Katsina, Zamfara and Kebbi State.
Meanwhile the athletics competition, which was between some secondary school within Kaduna metropolis saw students competing for laurels in individual events and team events; 100 and 200 metres for both boys and girls and 4×4 relay for boys and girls.
Institutions that participated in the athletics include, but not limited to; Queen Amina College, Our Ladies of Fatima College,Faith Academy.
Others are Command Secondary schools, AirForce College, Destiny College among others.
