A founding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr. Irmiya Garba (Jerry) has declared interest to run for member of Kaduna State House of Assembly in his Lere West constityuency.
Jerry who has been a grassroots mobilizer of the party and played key roles in making elective positions successful in Lere Local Government Area, has confirmed to this medium that he is out this time around to make sure PDP gains its ground and regains back its lost glory.
He said over the years, the party that was the hope of the masses was relegated to the background during the APC mantra of change.
Garba on Wednesday, stormed Garun Kurama Ward in Lere with his supporters and declared his interest to contest for Kaduna State House of Assembly, Lere West.
In the Spirit of humility, Mr. Jerry wrote to the Ward Chairman of Garun Kurama intimating him and other party officials of his unflinching loyalty to PDP, his party of choice.
Jerry chronicled his political history since when PDP was just a group of eighy, later to G 38 and finally metamorphosed to a strong and a great formidable party in Africa.
He said he witnessed the formation of PDP in Lere with the likes of late Barrister Musa Shekarau Ukissa, Aliyu Sale Ramin Kura, and many others before the 1999 return of democracy as the arrowhead leaders of the party.
Jerry while addressing women and youth who thronged the party office in Garun Kurama in support of his ambition, told the mammoth crowd that his knowledge of Lere West Constituency as a civil servant who retired with blameless records, will bring a lot of multiple dividends of democracy.
According to him, he served the party, going through the turbulent journey of PDP from formation to date, and is proud to say he remains one of the thorough bred party faithful that can be trusted not only as a legislature, but with even a higher position more than what he is aspiring for.
In support of his ambition as huge success of the party, Mutawallen Mariri made donations of dozens of posters to foster campaign plans.
He said Jerry needs not much introduction to the five wards making up the constituency and to any politician in Lere LGA.
“This man has been on the ground for PDP, we don’t have any grassroots mobilizer than him for PDP in this local government.
” I’m calling on various stakeholders to rally round him if we truly want to win elections in 2023. As far as I’m concerned and I know, we don’t have a reliable aspirant than Jerry,” Mutawalle said.
