Against the backdrop of the International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration, the nation and the world at large has been urged  to harness the capability of  women and their strength, to involve them in the development of the world economy.

Member representing Demsa LGA at the  Adamawa State Assembly, Kate Raymond Mamuno made the call, while speaking to the press, shortly after the celebration of the IWD in the state.

According to her, a woman is an epitome of development, who uses her God given role as a mother to nurture and develop her society

Speaking on this year’s theme of the celebration,  “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” Mamuno maintained that investing in a woman is a sure way of having sanity in the nation.

“Against all challenges, pains and hardship a woman is facing, she  turns it to the good of the world.

“Just as the popular saying , when you educate a woman, you educate a nation likewise When you invest in a woman you invest in the nation.

” The world will be a better place if a woman is carried along as she is an epitom of development”, Mamuno stated

She applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri for being a gender friendly governor.

“Fintiri is the first governor in the North to have a woman as deputy, He is the first to appoint a female High Court Judge in the state, and a host of others.

“in the whole of Nigeria, no woman is a majority leader only in Adamawa, giving credit to the gender friendly governor”, she stated.

“The  Fresh Air governor  investment/nvolvement of women in his government is commendable and worthy of emulation by other state governors,” she said.

While commemorating with women, Mamuno reiterated her commitment to double  investment in women, especially the girl-child which is her constituency pet project.

Answering a question on how religion and culture have contributed in limiting the potential of women, the Majority Leader called on traditional, religious and community leaders to

champion the vanguard, advocate and break the barriers holding women down, and allow women to contribute their quota.

“Leaving a woman outside the box can be very dangerous,” she stressed.

While speaking on her driving force, the lawmaker said, ” I believe in myself as a woman and my capabilities.

” Today I am where I am because of my  determination and resilience.”

Mamuno admonished women, to believe in themselves, push out of their comfort zones and distinguish themselves.

” From the impact and achievements of women in this country, I know very soon, we’ll join the league of countries with women as president, very soon”, she predicted.
