Imo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barr. Charles Ezekwem is worried over the party’s poor financial standing, saying that the party may not prosecute the 2019 general elections in the state.
Addressing stakeholders of the party in Owerri, Sunday, the chairman, painted a gloomy picture of the financial standing of the party and warned that the party may not have the financial muscle to run the general elections in 2019 if the party’s financial position does not improve.
He however, commended and thanked principal members of the party, like chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Senator Samuel Daddy Anyanwu, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, former Deputy-speaker, Federal House of Representative and other whom he said, had been supporting an carrying the party in the state.
According to him, chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, provided the party, his glass house building at Okigwe road, Owerri as venue for meetings, when the party lost it’s state office also at Okigwe road, Owerri.
He however said that the new party office, which was rented for N14 million took the chunk of the money realized from the fund raising ceremony organized by the party, pointing out that most people who pledged some money, to help the party have not redeemed their pledges.
In his own comment, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, urged stakeholders of the party to donate at least N1 million or above to help the party run the elections.
