Apparently worried by the controversies milling round his sudden resignation from Ayodele Fayose-led government, former Commissioner for Works in Ekiti State, Mr. Kayode Oso, has clarified that he resigned honourably on health ground.
Oso also denied the allegation that he ran away to stall his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing the allegation as handiworks of the enemies of Fayose’s government.
Oso made the clarification on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti during the swearing-in of Mrs. Theresa Funmilayo Ogun, ex-special Assistant on Widows matters, as the new Commissioner for Works and Transport by Governor Fayose.
After Oso’s resignation months ago, there were insinuations that he ran away to prevent his arrest by EFCC while it was also rumoured that he had a frosty relationship with his boss, Governor Ayodele Fayose over the awards of N5.7billion Flyover and N2.3 billion Erekesan Market projects.
According to him “Two months ago, I resigned my appointment in the state on medical ground to enable me take care of myself. I am therefore happy that I am alive to witness today’s ceremony.
“Between my time of resignation and now, a lot of information went viral which suggested that I was acrimonious to Governor Fayose, that I am being trailed by security agents. Some even made accusations bothering on financial impropriety.
“All these were misinformed and unfounded allegations that had nothing with my personal relationship with the Governor”, he said.
Fayose, represented by his Deputy Dr. Kolapo Olusola, said Oso’s clarification has laid to rest the vituperations from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of consistently making the foregoing allegations.
Charging the new commissioner to live up to expectations of her office, Fayose said “Oso is a hardworking, honest and rugged Commissioner. In fact, he served the state meritoriously well and I want to say that he has left a big shoe for you to wear.
“But Mrs. Ogun did well in her past position and I see her as a formidable replacement. The new office conferred on you greater responsibilities and let transparency, probity, loyalty and accountability your watchwords”.
Mrs. Ogun promised to rededicate and recommit herself to the service of the state for the realization of Fayose’s dream of making Ekiti greater than he met it.
The newly appointed Works Commissioner said she would key into the programmes already outlined by her principal to improve the infrastructural facilities of the state.
