There was mild drama at the resumed hearing of the appeal filed by the Federal Government against an Oyo State High Court judgement awarding N20.5billion damages to Sunday Adeyemo Igboho.
Already, the Court of Appeal has adjourned for judgement on the appeal at a date to be communicated to the counsel
The drama reared its head when DSS operatives together with the private security men at the court locked journalists out of the Court premises.
All efforts by the journalists at making the security operatives see the reasons for them to be allowed into the court premises failed as the security operatives were claiming to be acting on the order from above .
However, the situation took another dimension when loyalists of the Yoruba Rights activist, stormed the main entrance into the court with a vow not to allow anyone into the premises until they were allowed in.
Having waited for over an hour, the supporters and loyalists of Sunday Adeyemo Igboho resolved into chanting anti Federal Government songs as well as preventing movement of vehicles on the road leading to the court.
The loyalists were for over an hour, chanting “What do we want, Igboho freedom”. ” Do not kill Sunday Igboho. Do not kill Sunday Adeyemo, do not kill Sunday Adeyemo the way you killed Abiola.” ” Yoruba nation, no going back”, ” Sunday Igboho is coming back to Nigeria”
After about 30 minutes break, the protesting Igboho supporters were seen chanting “How many people DSS go kill ooo, how many people DSS go kill, then go kill us tire, then go kill us tire, how many people DSS go kill. Yoruba nation, no going back”.
After the court proceedings which lasted for about three hours, the lead Counsel to Chief Sunday Adeyemo, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN) while speaking with journalists, said after the briefings by counsel in the case, the court has adjourned judgement on the matter and that it would communicate the date to the counsel.
